Health Care at the Beaches
Bay News 9, Tampa Bay’s 10, Tampa Bay Times and CNN have all taken notice of a new health care practice that is thriving in Indian Shores. Dr. George Kamajian, DO opened up his medical walk in response to the inadequacies and bureaucracy he experienced in practicing emergency medicine in Boston for over 35 years. Dr. Kamajian decided to change the way health care is offered. First of all he identified himself as a neighborhood practice. He still performs house calls. He believes everyone should have access to quality health care – heath care that is affordable regardless of a patient’s lack of insurance or the size of their deductibles or co-pays. A need for this kind of practice was reinforced when he personally experienced a health problem at a time when he had no medical insurance. He also realized that most people require medical services on the same day they decide to seek them and that many people did not have a doctor they could call their own.
By developing partnerships with other health care suppliers such as laboratories and imaging facilities, he has dramatically lowered the cost of health care for all his patients. A standard panel of blood work is $40. CT scans and MRIs are available for the mid $200 range. These rates are often equal to or cheaper than those available to patients with insurance. Dr. Kamajian also operates a wellness and rejuvenation Med Spa that specializes in fraxel laser treatments, medical weight loss, botox , Juvederm and the liposonix body contouring procedure. Both former Governor Crist and Congressman Bill Young have recognized Dr. Kamajian for creating this unique concept that changes the way health care is offered. By providing minor medical and surgical services, medically managed weight loss and emergency services, Dr. Kamajian is making quality health care affordable for all.
